Oh What A Day!

Last Saturday I met with some of my students from Year 4C- Adam, Dominik, Natalia, Anna, Karolina, Aleksandra, Paulina, Alicja and Zuzanna.

Although the meeting lasted from 10:00 to 13:00, we had a great time.
Firstly, we watched a BBC documentary "The Truth About Food- Episode Three: How to feed your kids"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK-aBFpwsoE

Meanwhile, the students were asked to make a list of food items they could see while watching this film.

Then we divided food into two groups: healthy food- good for me and unhealthy food- bad for me.

After studying a long list of new vocabulary, there was a time to play. We chose two groups and two leaders (one for each group).

The leaders had to try ten healthy food items and name them after eating everything. Natalia, Paulina, Adam and Dominik's group won this competition because Natalia remebered more products she had eaten.

When we got hungry, we prepared sanwiches with wholemeal bread, cheese, ham and a lot of fresh vegetables. We drank some tea, orange juice and we had bananas and tangerines as a healthy dessert.

We also played an interactive game which explained us the food pyramid and its groups.

The students also practised the sounds of new vocabulary. Some syllables of words are written the same but the pronunciation is different.

As a conclusion, the students listened and tried to remeber the lyrics of song "Give me five"

Polish food recipes - Mateusz Milkowski's 'Apple pie with foam and crumble'

Apple pie with foam and crumble

Cake:

- 3 glass flour
-  1 cube of margarine
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2-3 tablespoons cream 18%
- 1/2 glass of sugar

Filling:

- 1 kg of apples + some water
- 1/2 glass of sugar
- little vanilla sugar (or ready applesauce )

Foam:

- 5 proteins
- 1/2 glass of sugar
- cherry jelly ( 1 /2 liter )

1. Ingredients for the dough to knead. Piece of cake roll in the 'tube' and put in the freezer - you will need to crumble on top. The rest of the dough, roll out and place it in the bottom of a large sheet while doing little 'tabs' around the cake. Broil about 15 min at 180 C.

2. in the meantime, apples and get ready to foam. Apples and lightly crush overcook with the addition of water and sugar. Or, to the finished mousse wipe an apple - so I did this time. Foam - 5 whites nearly beat stiff, add the sugar and continue to whip. Later add the jelly and whipped into a homogeneous mass, to the jelly will not be dark dots on foam, otherwise they come out ugly traces of the baking.

3. At the pre-baked pie put apples on an apple on top of the foam and wipe the rest of the dough (from the freezer) - a grater with large mesh. Bake 30-40 min.  at  180 C.

   Enjoy
